There may be some errors which are been created by the software programs this can also lead your computer to reboot without giving any prior notice or without warning. If you are running an Windows XP then see the following "For Windows XP users" before ongoing further.
If you are not running Windows XP or follow the below given steps still effect your computer to reboot without caution. Boot your computer into Safe Mode, and allow the computer to run in Safe Mode.
If the computer is still rebooting in Safe Mode the issue is likely not software allied but something else, then skip to the next section. If the computer is not rebooting in Safe Mode then it is likely that your software is related to any issue. If you are using Windows XP it is much intended to automatically reboot each time whenever an error is occurring like a BSoD. Even though this may be nice for errors that do not occur often, or else if you are re-occurring the error which may desire to identify the error to troubleshoot it. Following are the steps on how this feature can be stopped and start in Windows XP.
    1. From the desktop right-click on My Computer.
    2. Click the Properties option.
    3. In the System Properties window click the Advanced tab.
    4. In Advanced click the Settings button under the Startup and Recovery.
    5. In the Startup and Recovery window uncheck the Automatically restart check box.
    6. Finally click at Ok.
Now your computer will produce any error then it will not automatically restart and will also allow you to display the error which computer is having in it.

Also see to it that is there any failure of hardware component in your computer which would also result your computer to suddenly create an error and/or reboot the computer without giving any prior notice. If you have just tried to add a new hardware device, than remove that device and make sure that it is not generating the problem or error to the issue.
Also be sure that you are not been installing any hardware conflicts by screening the Device Manager for errors.
New drivers can also result this type of problem, if you have just performed any hardware driver updates you may wish to try an earlier version of the drivers.
If you have updated the drivers and detached any of the hardware that might also be causing this problem and carry on further to understand the casual reboots, it's likely that the memory is bad in the computer.
Lastly, the hardware devices which are not been installed properly in the computer can also result in casual reboots. Also see to it that all the cables and expansion cards are connected properly to the computer. The best way for checking it is to disconnect and reconnect all the cables and expansion cards too.

Computer viruses are just like a blaster virus which are printed to reboot your computer without giving you any notice. Generally you can see these viruses will make the computer to reboot every 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes after when the computer has been booted.
If you consider that your computer may also be attacked by a virus or are unsure if your computer is contaminated with a virus then make sure your virus scanner definitions are been updated to the date. For scanning the computer and detecting the virus from the computer and removing it completely.

Since most of the computers nowadays are so designed to turn off or routinely reboot if the computer, processor, or other device in your computer gets to hot. Then you may also have heard about the irregular noises which may be coming from your computer in recent times such as a high squealing of this could also show that a fan may be weakening in your computer.
You can first start it by examine the fan on the power supply which is working by inspecting the back of the computer and checking that the fan is working very smoothly. For all other fans in the computer you will require to open the computer and also confirm that the fan are working properly and/or if your BIOS monitors the RPM of the fans then enter the BIOS and also see to it that the BIOS does not result in any errors.
Users might also be able to verify how hot their computer is committed by the thermal sensors, if your computer comes outfitted with these sensors make sure your CPU is not running to hot.
