Okay, this is strange. My friends Toshiba laptop is stuck with a virus, I figured it just needs a simple reformatting...The Toshiba restore CDs seem to be bad, they wont even read in my own computer's cd drive nor the laptop. So I tried installing XP Home Edition, it formatted fine, and now Im at the GUI setup where it actually installs Windows... about 2-5 minutes in it will give me a fatal error reading something like this:"An error has been encountered that prevents Setup from continuing. One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. Data error (cyclic redundancy check)." etc etc etc....I figured this meant my XP cd was damaged. I borrowed my friends XP Home cd (exactly the same edition), and it STILL gives me this error.Whats strange is that I don't think the CD drive has a problem, I was able to successfully install Linux Ubuntu onto the HD just now. But Windows refuses to install! Any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you!
