Thread: Running Logoff Scripts on shutdown.... why?

I am having a number of computers on my network but when told to restart or shutdown, it begins the process automatically and then hangs with the windows box stating that "running logoff scripts".... I'm not sure accurately how long it hangs like this, it will ultimately shutdown or restart but it takes longer than 10 minutes to do so. There are no local logoff scripts and there are none in the group policy that is on the network. I did find a setting in gpedit.msc to restrict script run time to 15 seconds... but if I have no scripts configured I don't think that really will do something. Has somebody seen this happen, and know how to make it stop the occurrence of this problem?

I noticed that an old DC we still have online, which just happens to be plugged into a user access switch because it’s not in the server room. So, it looks like some computers are logging onto that particular DC... but still, any group policies should be simulated to the other DC's... and still on that one I did not find any logoff scripts when I was expecting it to do anything for the problem.
