Default Do I really need Java?

When I start running speed test on my internet connection, the reply said that I require a "Java Plug-in" to see the results.

At the Java site I noticed for the download of Java which is about 30 MB and the disk space is just only about 100 MB. Do I actually need such a monstrously big program just to look at a few figures? Are the benefits equal with such a huge program?
Is there no MS capacity for Java for built into the Win XP SP2?

Just how big is your HDD, it sound’s very pretty small, simple to fix, don't install JAVA in the computer, it will work fine with out it so far, and knowing your internet connection speed really doesn't mean anything to you while running.
