Default Can not boot into safe mode

Alright I am attempting to take the ownership of a folder on my old hard drive but I also keep receiving the access denied. So I require booting up into safe mode to access the security tab to take control of the folder this is because I have XP home. But when I try to boot into safe mode this long list comes up

    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS\System 32\Drivers\fltmgr.sys
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS\System 32\Drivers\disk.sys
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS\System 32\Drivers\sr.sys
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS\System 32\Drivers\mup.sys
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS\System 32\Drivers\pxhelp20.sys

There are like 30items in the list the above written are just a few. All of the items were located in drivers and were sys files. So does anyone know how to fix this problem?

that is the safe mode loading up, if you wait a bit longer it should boot fine.

It sounds like it is crashing and also the timing out. You could also try making use of the windows CD to repair the windows installation and that may clear it up sufficient to get your data, have you tried booting up with your current window installation and have the old drive running as a slave? Can’t say I’ve used home much so that you can not get access to the security tab with the permissions to change them.

If you are having got to the external HDD box it's a snap, but the problem is that it is booting from the wrong HDD in the computer.
