XP64Pro reading out 5.5GB but not 6GB

I have lately installed two new Corsairs 2GB * 2 XMS 5-5-5-12 into my PC beside the two which are been previously in my two Corsairs of 1GB * 2 XMS 4-4-4-12 which also conveyed with the total memory which is up to 6GB of RAM. But there might be some reason on XP64Pro Build 5308 which only sees 5.5GB. Is this a kind of normal or standard problem with my memory because I plan to swap out the two 1GB Corsairs and replace them with two more 2GB to max out my ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe RAM capacity. If any input it would be more helpful and thanks in advance.

I have pretty very much the same problem. I too have the same MB which had 2 GB of corsairs ram (2 x 1 GB), I have installed 4gb (2x2gb) of some cheap ram. I also reinstalled my Vista and the damn that says 5.5 GB in windows. The bios also see it. Now I essentially did the ram install before I could find my vista disk, win 7 pc spec pages says 6 GB but I do remember that it is was displaying 5.5 some where. If anyone could shed some light on this matter it would be appreciated.

XP PRO 32 bit which has this kind of problem with more than 3.5 Gigs of RAM, if you think that you will require the much needed memory then go to Vista 64, from what I have heard XP 64 has issues.

Yeah, I must've known that a system which was created for x32 is now been intergraded into an x64 was going to come with the issues. Since guess I will have to load the Vista Ultimate 64 which once again until the Win7 is complete.
