Thread: Recovering windows profiles

When I booted it later, it suddenly shot up a warning telling me that the profile is corrupt and then told me to contact the network administrator. I am the only' person using my computer, so I don't know why this is showing.

Also when I open a program, I get an error message. Please check with the installation disk" What could be the problem and how do I fix this?

It looks like the power outage took out some files on your disk, deleting your profile. Run the Windows System File Checker to try and recover these files. You can do this by opening a command prompt, and typing sfc /scannow. Keep your Windows XP disc handy. as it may ask for that if it detects any corrupted files. If this doesn't work, you may need to run a data recovery tool like DiskDigger to recover the deleted files.
