If you already using Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed in your computer, and you do not want to install Internet Explorer 8, you may be able to fix the issue with Internet Explorer 6 by using the Ie.inf file to reinstall Internet Explorer 6.

To do this, follow these steps:

1. You have to just click on the Start button located on the taskbar, and select the Run command from the Start menu and type in Run command bar as %systemroot%\inf, and press the ENTER key.

2. Locate the Ie.inf file that is situated in Windows\Inf folder.

3. And right-click the Ie.inf files, and then click on the Install.

4. And finally reboot or restart the PC when the file copy procedure is complete.
