To assign a drive letter to a drive, a partition, or a volume, follow these steps:

1. You have to just log in as a Administrator or else as a member of the Administrators group.

2. And click on the Start key which is located on the left side of the taskbar, and search for the control panel and click on it, and after that again search for the Performance and Maintenance tab and click on it.

Kindly Note. If you cannot see the Performance and Maintenance tab, go back to step 3. And if the Performance and Maintenance options is accessible in the Control Panel and it is possible if you have selected as Category view. And if you are using the Classic view, the Performance and Maintenance is not accessible even in the control panel.

3. And after that click on the Administrative Tools, and double-click on the Computer Management and at last then click on the Disk Management which is positioned on the left side.

4. And after that you have to right-click on the particular drive, which is drive partition, or the logical drive, or the volume of the drive which you want to assign a drive letter to it, and then you have to click on the Change Drive Letter as well as Paths.

5. And click on the Add. And click again on the Assign the subsequent drive letter if it is not chosen and after that also accept the default drive letter or else click on any of the drive letter which you want to occupy.

6. And finally click on the OK.

The drive letter is allocate to the drive, to the partition, or to the volume that you have applied, and then that drive letter emerges in the suitable drive, partition, or volume in the Disk Management tool.
