THE Windows XP Start menu is loaded with a set of frequently used programs beginning with the Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. You can customize the Start menu and remove unused shortcuts, as well as add new applications to the list for quick access. To do so, follow the steps below:
- Right-click on the 'Start' menu and select 'Properties'.
- Click 'Customize' on the 'Taskbar and Start Menu Properties' dialog box.
-Select or clear options as required.
- In the 'Number of recent items to display' box, set an integer value.
- To customize the Classic Start menu, select 'Classic Start menu' and click 'Customize'.
- Click 'Add' and browse for the application to add to the start menu.
- Click 'Remove' to view the Start menu list and delete what is not required.
- To delete recent list of applications and documents, click 'Clear'.
- In the 'Advanced Start menu options' section, select or clear options as required.
