    Default Task bar too big

Windows XP SP1, OEM install at present, I did a bit to my taskbar. Now, it is too broad; that is, it is two times as broad / wide. Generally, it uses one row. But at present it use 2 rows. If I try to decrease the size, my only selection is "0", [no] thickness. I want to make use of the "quick launch tool bar". I have that enabled. To the right of the quick launch [QL] icons are 2 columns of dotted lines. To the right of the 2 columns of dots, there is empty space until one reaches the system tray. Below the QL icons is one more set of dotted lines in 2 columns? Every column has 4 or 5 dots. I'm not at the PC, at present. This 2nd row emerge when I open a window [IE, OE, "my computers", etc]. The task bar is not locked. Auto hide is disabled. "Leave on top" is enabled. Groups are not chosen.

I can't make use of system restore because I installed a few programs after this trouble occurred. The language toolbar is too enabled. If I uncheck it [right click on the task bar, left click toolbars, left click language bar, the language bar returns after I reboot.

You must see two "perforated" vertical lines close to the start button (use to resize the Quick launch area.) If you don't make out them, your bar is most likely locked. Move the pointer over the rightmost vertical line as well as the pointer changes to the stretch symbol <-->. HOLD DOWN the left mouse button and drag that bar far to the right so the quick launch area is massive. Resize the bar vertically; drag the perforation back to where you desire it.

Ok so make certain your taskbar is unlocked, then right click on the taskbar as well as choose properties... then unselect "show quick launch" then lock the taskbar. Then go into properties again as well as choose show quick launch. This should fix it.
