SYMPTOMS:
Once you start a Windows XP Embedded image using Remote Boot Server, you can not see the local disk drives. If you see the drive in Device Manager, you will find that the drive can be installed. Plus, receive error code 39. When these problems happen, you can not prepare the drive or copy data to the drive.
This problem does not occur when one of the following conditions are happen:
1. The local disk drive is a removable-media object, such as a compact flash card.
2. The Windows XP Embedded image has earlier recognized the local disk drive during First Boot Agent (FBA).
CAUSE:
These problems happen because the driver for the local disc is automatically loaded when the system starts, even if the system is started from a Ram disk drive instead of a disk. This can be a problem during the installation of a disc.
