Root folder of a boot capacity using the NTFS file system, if too many files are copied to it, you may obtain the below error message the next time that you start again the computer:
NTLDR is missing
Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart.
The MFT (master file table) allotment index does not reduce to its original size, when you delete files from the root folder. If the MFT root folder is rigorously separated, this problem may occur. The MFT might turn into so fragmented that an further distribution index is formed when the MFT root folder includes many files. The NTLDR file might be pressed to the second allocation index because files are drowned alphabetically in the allotment indexes. When this happens, you obtain the error message that is explained in the "Symptoms" section.
If a program frequently makes and delete temporary files in the root folder or by mistake if many files are pasted to the root folder, this circumstances might happen. Usually, to the root folder, files are not written.
To solve this problem, follow these method:
1. Contact Microsoft Customer Support Services to obtain the Bcupdate2.exe utility.
2. Create a boot disk for starting your computer.
3. Run the following command at the command prompt to extract the Bcupdate2.exe utility from the software update:
Expand drive_letter:\bcupdate2.ex_ drive_letter:\bcupdate2.exe
4. Run the following command at the command prompt to update the boot code of the NTFS boot sector:
Bcupdate2.exe C: /F
Note Other command-line parameters are supported:
/q - Quiet mode (must include /y)
/y - Don't confirm
/f - Force update of in use volume
/t - Only test for old boot code
