Here it is explained that how to remove Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition from your PC that is running a 32-bit Edition of Windows XP.

    Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is a stand-alone version of Windows, you should take out the associated entries from Boot.ini file and operating system files from the partition where Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is installed.

    Step 1: Remove the entries from the Boot.ini file
    1. Start PC to the 32-bit version of Windows XP.
    2. Log on to Windows XP by Administrator account that has all rights.
    3. Click Start, click Run, type c:\, and then click OK.
    4. On Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    5. In the Folder Options dialog box that displays, click View tab.
    6. Click Show hidden files and folders if this option is not selected.
    7. Click to clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box if this check box is selected, and then click OK.
    8. In the Local Disk (C dialog box, right-click Boot.ini, and then click Open.
    The Boot.ini file opens in Notepad. The contents of this file appear like this:
    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\Windows="Micro soft Windows x64 " /fastdetect
    C:\="Microsoft Windows"
    9. Remove the following entry from the Boot.ini file:
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\Windows="Micro soft Windows x64 " /fastdetect
    10. Modify the Advanced RISC Computing (ARC) path next to the default entry so that this path points to the place of the 32-bit version of Windows XP. For example, make sure that the default entry appears like this:
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
    11. On the File menu, click Save.
    12. Quit Notepad.

    Default Step 2: Remove the Windows XP Professional x64 Edition files

    Remove the Windows folder

    1. Click Start, click Run, type Explorer, and then click OK.
    2. Find the drive that have Windows XP Professional x64 operating system files.
    3. Right-click the folder that have Windows XP Professional x64 operating system files, and then click Delete.

    4. Click Yes when you are pressed to confirm the deletion of this folder.
    Format the partition that contains the Windows XP Professional x64 Edition files
    1. Click Start, click Run, type compmgmt.msc, and click OK.
    2. Expand Storage, and then click Disk Management.
    3. In the lower right pane, right-click the partition that have Windows XP Professional x64 Edition operating system files, click Format, and click OK.
