    SUMMARY:

    This article explains how to add non-native drivers network Winternals Recovery Manager client in Windows XP.

    MORE INFORMATION:

    • Find the Windows XP network drivers for network adapter. Network drivers are usually situated on the driver disk, which was including with the adapter. Or, network drivers are presented for download from the support of the adapter manufacturer's site.

    • Removing the Windows XP network drivers temp place If drivers are supplied in a compressed format.

    • Open the third-party network controller setup information (.inf) file from the network driver installation media.

    • Consider the [SourceDisksFiles] section. INF-file to determine the source files to be copied. E.g., [SourceDisksFiles] section. INF-file may have the following entries:
    [SourceDisksFiles]
    Net8254x.din = 1,WINDOWS\DRIVERS\IA32
    E1000nt5.sys = 1,WINDOWS\DRIVERS\IA32
    Intelnic.dll = 1,WINDOWS\DRIVERS\IA32
    Prounstl.exe = 1,WINDOWS\DRIVERS\IA32

    • Consider [DestinationDirs] section. INF-file to determine the destination for the files. e.g., [DestinationDirs] section .INF-file may have the following entries:

    [DestinationDirs]
    winxp.CopyFiles = 12
    UninstallProg.CopyFiles = 11

    • Start the Recovery Manager Boot Client Wizard

    • Follow the wizard until you reach the page, additional driver page. This step is only for the inclusion of third-party driver for SCSI / RAID adapters. This does not include drivers for network adapter. If you have a SCSI / RAID drivers included, click "Next."

    • On the Additional Files page, click Explore. This opens a new window.

    • Copy the files that were listed in the [SourceDisksFiles] section in step 4 in the sites that were listed in [DestinationDirs] section in Step 5 in the recovery of the client manager boot, download files to a temporary folder. E.g. Copy the following files to the proper directory:
     E1000nt5.sys to the I386\System32\Drivers directory
     Net8254x.din to the I386\System32 directory
     Intelnic.dll to the I386\System32 directory
     Prounstl.exe to the I386\System32 directory

    • Copy the .inf file to the I386\INF folder in the Recovery Manager Boot Client temp file location. For example, copy the Neti557x.inf to the I386\INF folder:

    • After you have added the necessary files, close the Explore window, and then return to the Additional Drivers page.

    • Click Next, and then follow the outstanding prompts to create a CD that contains startup files.
