Visio2002: Setup Stops Responding or You Receive a "Source Is Corrupt" Error Message When You Install Visio

SYMPTOMS:

When you try to install Visio 2002, Visio Setup may stop responding such as hang. Or, you may get an error message similar to one of the following during Setup:
Source is corrupt
-or-

MSIEXEC caused an Invalid Page Fault in KERNEL32.DLL

As a output, you are unable to install Visio.

CAUSE:

This action can happen if there are other programs or services running on your PC that stop the installation of Visio.

RESOLUTION:

Start Microsoft Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and services, to resolve this issue. This process, also known as a clean boot, provides as stable an installation environment as possible in which to install Visio. Once you perform a clean boot, copy the contents of the Visio compact disc to a new folder on your computer's hard disk, and then run Visio Setup from this location. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start Windows Explorer, and then make a new folder on your computer's hard disk.
2. Insert the Visio compact disc.
3. In Windows Explorer, browse to the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive that have the Visio compact disc, and then copy the contents of the disc to the folder that you created in step 1.
4. Quit Windows Explorer.
5. Restart Windows by using a clean boot.
6. Start Windows Explorer, and then browse to the folder that you created in step 1.
7. Double-click Setup.exe to run Visio Setup.
8. After Visio is installed, restart the computer normally.
