Default Understanding and Troubleshooting Unrecoverable Errors

Understanding and Troubleshooting Unrecoverable Errors (Faults) in Internet Explorer

    SUMMARY

This explains information to help you identify and solve problems that happen when you get unrecoverable error message when you use Windows-based Internet Explorer.

    MORE INFORMATION

Unrecoverable errors are called user-mode faults or exceptions. Programs like Internet Explorer run on your PC in what is known as user-mode or Ring3. Processes that run in user-mode do so in their virtual address spaces and do not have direct access to hardware or memory that was not assigned to them. Because user-mode processes are efficiently inaccessible from the system and other user-mode processes, they do not interfere with these resources. Thus, they do not compromise the integrity of your PC. For example, if a process tries to read or write to a memory location that has not been allocated to it, the result is an unrecoverable error in this case, it is an exception. When these unrecoverable errors happen, you should close the affected program or process to keep your PC’s integrity.
