"The Language of This Installation of Windows Differs from the One You Are Installing" Error Message

SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to upgrade or install Windows on a PC that is running a several language of Windows, you get following error message:
Windows Setup

The language of this installation of Windows differs from the one you are installing. The option to upgrade will not be available. You cannot upgrade or install a several language version of Windows.

CAUSE

This happens because you cannot run Windows Setup to upgrade one language version of Windows to a several language version of Windows. When you attempt to do so, the Setup program of the language version of Windows that you are currently installing shows the error message.

RESOLUTION

To solve this problem, use any one of the following techniques:

• Decide if language version of Windows that you would like to install is already maintained by Windows.

• Multiple-boot configuration used to mount further language version of Windows on a separate partition on hard disk.
