CAUSE

These problems happen if the following components have been installed out of order, have not been installed, or if their installations have been damaged:

• The DCOM component
• The JET component
• The MDAC component

Unnecessary temporary files avoided a successful installation of these components.

RESOLUTION

The given steps are used to solve these problems if the problem involves the DCOM component, the JET component, or the MDAC component.

There is only way to install DCOM component on a Windows 2000, a Windows Millennium Edition, a Windows XP-based, or a Vista-based PC is to reinstall Windows. The DCOM component is an interior component of the operating system and cannot be eliminated or installed individually.

You should install the current JET component version before you install the current MDAC component edition. In earlier adaptation of the JET component as well as the MDAC component, it has been the practice to set up the JET component after the MDAC component. This was the practice because the JET component relies on ODBC drivers being loaded on the system. At first, the ODBC drivers were installed with the MDAC component. Although, the MDAC component, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows Vista come with ODBC drivers previously installed. Although, Windows 98, Windows ME, as well as Windows NT do not arrive with ODBC drivers already installed. The JET component now copies the ODBC drivers to the PC.

Though, it depends on the MDAC component to create the suitable registry entries to make use of the ODBC drivers.
