Thread: Troubleshooting "My Computer" Opening Slowly on Windows XP

If “My Computer” is taking too much time to open on your system, you are facing a very popular problem where Windows hangs when trying to find for network folders and printers putting anything on display.

This problem can be solved pretty easily by following these steps.

Go to Folder Options from the Tools menu in Windows Explorer:



Select the View tab button:



Uncheck the box for “Automatically search for network folders and printers”, and turn off the dialog box.

The setting will take effect immediately and your problem is gone.
