The following Steps are used for reinstalling Windows XP

1. Put Windows XP CD in CD drive.

2. Restart PC.

3. When it shows "Boot from CD..." hit Enter. You want to modify Boot order settings in BIOS. Some PCs will start from hard drive first. You have to change this. When you turn on PC, press F4 as it starts, to get into BIOS menu. Insert "CD-ROM" as first item PC will attempt to start from.

4. After CD loads then follow instructions which are displayed on screen.

5. When a list of partitions shown, select the biggest one and press D.

6. Follow instructions to delete.

7. Press "F" to format the clean hard drive. A quick format will be enough unless you have spyware, malware, and/or viruses.

8. Choose "NTFS file system and delete old files".

9. Drive will take about an hour to format wait until drive will format.

10 When drive ends format, follow instructions to install Windows.

11. When it ends installing, it will start up usually with a clean hard drive.

12. Instructions could be different based on type of PC that you have.

13. If you want to do a re-install of Windows XP without formatting hard
driv . Then backup won't be needed unless you completely see fit to do so.
