Windows Recovery Console is utilized to improve your operating system when PC does not start properly. It provides you restricted access to NTFS file system, FAT, and FAT32 volumes. You want a Windows XP CD to boot from. Insert CD and start PC. You must get a choice to Press any key to boot from CD. Press any key when you get this message.

Then Windows XP will start Setup Process as if you were installing Windows itself.

After the below screen appears press R to enter Recovery Console.

Recovery Console will request which Windows installation to access. Many users only have Windows XP installation so you probably have only one option.

Next it will ask for administrator password for XP installation. Type administrator password or leave it blank and hit enters if you do not have one.

Recovery Console is now prepared for utilize and you can type in commands to attempt and repair PCs problem. When you are completed, remove Windows XP CD and type exit to reboot PC.
