Default Burning CDs with Windows XPs Built in Software

Nowadays burning CDs has turn into a way of life. Whether it is for backup or creating music CDs, it has become a common PC task. Microsoft understand this when they comes with XP. Other companies like Roxio and Nero were dominating market with their CD burning software so Microsoft did what they do good and applied it into Windows.

To burn a CD in Windows perform following steps:

    1. Go to Windows Explorer or My Computer

    2. Browse to files you want to burn to CD

    3. Highlight the files

    4. Drag them to your CD burner drive

Windows create a temporary copy of files and notify you that you have files ready to burn to CD. You can tick the balloon and then click on Write these files to CD or go to File menu and select the same. If you select not to burn these files you can delete them from this box without removing originals. Be alert that you are removing them from CD drive and not from hard drive.

Please note that Windows XP built-in burner does not support burning of DVD disks! DVD burning is allowed since Windows Vista.
