Internet Explorer maintains a history of all sites if you want to go back to them at a later time. You can access them by clicking on your history button in your browser. If you don’t want people to know where you have been you can clear your history.
The simple method to delete history is go to Internet Explorer, Tools, and then Internet Options. General tab must be shown as below. Then you want to do is tick on Clear History button (IE6) to erase. For IE7 you can tick on Delete button under Browsing history and select what items you want to delete or delete them all in one click. If you have a Windows Explorer window open it may not clear the history.
You can also restrict how much history is placed in browser. Beside Clear History button you notice a Days to maintain pages in history sector. You can modify how many days history is kept by modifying this value
