There are plenty of tools for making Windows easier to use, most of which are in Accessibility Options. In XP, the options for increasing the size of icons and toolbars are found in the Display Options. Right-click on the Desktop and select Properties. Left-click on, the Appearance tab. Text can be made bigger by clicking on the down arrow labelled 'Font size' and selecting Large Fonts or Extra Large Fonts. Click on the Apply button to preview the changes.

If this is still not enough there is another setting that can help. Click on the Settings tab and then on Advanced. Click on the General tab and click on the down arrow labelled 'DPI setting'. Select Large size (120 DPI) and click on OK when the Change OPI Setting message appears. Restart the computer. Windows will then ask where you would like to install the new fonts from. The easiest option is to click on Yes when prompted to skip copying the files from the Windows disc and use the files already on the computer, indeed it is your only option if this disc was not supplied with the computer. Restart the computer. When it starts all the text and icons will be larger. The equivalent settings for Vista can be found in the East of Access Center in the Control Panel.

    • Right click somewhere on the Toolbar.
    • Select 'Customize'.
    • In the Select menu, select 'Use Large Icons'. A check mark should now show to the left of this option.

I tried to follow this steps it worked for me.
    • Right click on the Taskbar and if Lock the taskbar is checked, click on it to uncheck.
    • You will now notice small vertical lines of dots on either end of the Quick Launch bar.
    • Right click on the one on the left-hand end. That will give you a menu with View as one of the options.
    • On that View menu you can left click Large Icons.
    • This will change the size of the Quick Launch icons only and, to contain the larger size, the Taskbar will increase in height.
