Thread: Blue screen in xp & system gets shutdown

I get a blue screen in xp sometimes when i start my computer not always. It states that windows have encountered a serious error & a window has been shutdown to prevent further damage to your OS. It appears for hardly 5 sec so i can’t give any other details. The error occurred while using different programs & i don’t think it is due to a particular program. I got this error once while playing a game & other times while browsing on Mosila. I have had this message at least 5 times in the past 6 days. I have Maccafe antivirus & windows firewall.
I have AMD phenom II processor & Asus M2N68-AM PLUS motherboard. In addition i have 520 GB HDD & a 2 GB RAM.

Change the setting so it doesn't re-start automatically, by opening Control Panel (classic view) --> System --> Advanced tab -- In "Startup and Recovery" click Settings. Uncheck "Automatically Restart".

Now when a serious error occurs the blue screen will stay there. Hopefully it will have some fault information usually it's a sentence in capital letters, this is important in helping to solve the problem so please post what it says.
