Thread: PC hangs when I insert pen drive

Recently my girlfriends gifted me with a Transcend 16GB pen drive. It was working well few days back but now when i insert the pen drive my PC gets hung up. I tried lots of times but the PC hangs up. This all started after i inserted my pen drive in my friends PC. Also when it gets detected it can’t be ejected using by safely remove hardware. Is it due to some virus?
I am Windows Xp Service pack 2 user.

Boot the system in safe mode and after that insert the pen drive. If it gets detected then format the drive if the pen drive does not have any important data. Once formatting the drive boot the windows in normal mode. Before booting in normal mode unplug the pen drive. Insert the drive only when the system has booted completely. Now see if you are capable to access the pen drive or not.

PC hangs when I insert pen drive we have received a problem from some of our readers, who are not able to access their USB pen drives and other portable devices.
As according to the readers their system was successfully detecting USB devices, but may be after some kind of virus attack their system now does not detect any type of USB devices.
Let’s see how we correct this problem.
