Dual booting machine with OS you no longer utilize wastes processing power and can cause machine to stall or crash. If you no longer want to load Linux on PC running XP, solution is to delete setting known as Grand Unified Bootloader (GRUB). Deleting GRUB will speed up PC boot time and remove hassle of choice prompts on startup.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn off PC.
Step 2
Put in Windows XP Installation CD.
Step 3
Turn on PC. It will auto-detect CD.
Step 4
Type "R" to run Recovery comfort when prompted.
Step 5
When cursor flashes on screen, type "fixmbr" (no quotes). Push "Enter."
Step 6
Type exit and Push "Enter."
Step 7
Follow instructions to reboot system.
