Obtaining Wireless Linksys Hardware to Work on Windows XP 64 Bit
Though 32- and 64-bit editions of Windows XP are basically similar, there is considerably variation in technique by which they access system memory, which can generate problems when it comes to interfacing with separate parts of system hardware, like wireless Linksys hardware. Solution to this problem is to use 64-bit drivers, which are available from company's website.
Instructions
Step 1
Download suitable driver for particular model of Linksys wireless adapter.
Step 2
Save it on PC for protection.
Step 3
Go to "Start", click "Control Panel," and open "Device Manager."
Step 4
Open "Network Adapters" tab and double click on Linksys adapter.
Step 5
Open "Drivers" tab and pick option to "Update Driver”
Step 6
Select "Desktop" as place to look for driver and follow rest of instructions to finish installation of new driver.
