In OS, there are two major formats: 32 bit and 64 bit. Each has various techniques for referencing and allocating memory in PC. As this means that drivers required to run hardware will be unusual, hard drive utilized in 64-bit system can be made clear if later attached to 32-bit system. To obtain 64-bit hard drive to show in Windows XP, all that is needed is few configuring of hardware to force system to appropriately identify drive.
Instructions
Step 1
Read hard drive operating instruction to decide proper "jumper" place for slave setting.
Step 2
Take out jumper yourself on back of hard drive and put it in "Slave" place.
Step 3
Open PC by taking out two screws placed at back right of case and sliding off panel.
Step 4
Screw the hard drive into situate in drive bay by added screws.
Step 5
Attach hard drive to motherboard by either an IDE or SATA connector, based on drive type. Check with instructions if in doubt.
Step 6
Connect power cause drive from power supply
Step 7
Start PC. System will mechanically identify drive and allocate it letter. Access drive by open "My Computer" and choosing drive letter.
