    Default XP and Vista installed hard disk

    XP and Vista can be installed on one hard disk

    Windows Vista installed on my PC. But I want to install XP but simultaneously I want Vista also in my PC. I want to utilize both OS. I have only one hard drive. So can I install XP and Vista on similar hard disk?

    1) Your PC now having Vista and also want to install XP without removing Vista. Means you want dual OS in your PC. This can be done very easily if there are two partitions on hard drive.

    2) Now Vista is installed on PC and you want to install XP. Put in Windows XP installation disc and restart PC. Boot from XP installation disc and choose other partition of hard drive on which Vista is not installed. Finish installation process and restart PC.

    3) Vista is OS is now installed on PC, so repartition hard drive if there is only one partition on hard drive.

    -> For making partition, right tick My Computer, Manage, Disk Management, Right tick on drive, Shrink Volume.

    -> Start PC with Windows XP CD and install XP on new partition.

    ->Once XP is installed, start system with Vista DVD. There is message you notice “Install Now“, at bottom there is “Repair your computer“.

    ->Choose Vista and click next. At System Recovery Options, choose “Startup Repair“. After repairing completed, click Finish and system will boot into Vista.

    ->Download and install EasyBCD
    -> Run EasyBCD and go to Add/Remove programs. Choose Drive E:\ first and then Type Windows NT/2k/XP/2k3. Then type name that you want it to show in boot loader like “Windows XP” or even “XP”. Click Add Entry and Save.

    -> Restart PC and you should two entries in Vista bootloader, and boot into either OS.
