Windows XP released in 2001, was fifth next-generation edition of Microsoft Windows OS. Modifications from Windows 2000 added more user-friendly GUI, network support features, faster start-up sequences and host of other developments. As these modifications are helpful to many users, some who have upgraded to XP from earlier editions of Windows may, for causes of program compatibility or preference, want to downgrade back to their earlier version of Windows. Downgrading is probable if XP was installed over earlier version of Windows.
