Thread: Unable to access Windows XP Home

Hi Friends,

I purchased notebook that has window 7 and it is working well. But problem is Windows 7 Starter cannot access Windows XP Home. I can able to see system in network but not permitted to access files.

So please help me to solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

For my opinion to you do not use the user name and password with XP because XP don’t need that it as it only supports Simple File Sharing. Check for guest account on XP then check for password is present there or not since if it is there then delete it and restart PC. This helps you to access files.

To access file do the steps given below.
1. Put all PCs in identical workgroup.
2. Put network location to Home or Work.
3. See that firewall permit files and printer sharing.
4. Turn on extra file and printer sharing options.

If problem remains then use network troubleshooter

Use network trouble shooter and follow the steps given below.

1. Go to Start-> control panel-> Search box
2. Type “troubleshooter”
3. Click Troubleshooting
4. Click Network and Internet
5. Search for problem
