Default Cannot rename files in XP

I am using a PC system install with windows XP. every time I try to rename a folder I got error memo, “cannot rename new folder. Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write confined and that the file is not currently in use." I try login as administrator. But the related error comes. I checked the all my rights settings. If you are having any solution for that, then please supply that solution to me. I will be thankful to you.

There are two main reasons for this:

    • The file possibly opened by some application and thus "locked". Sometimes restarting will fix this problem. If not, you should search through trial and error which application has locked the file. Often it's a system service and you can stop the service to free the file.

    • You may not have permissions to the file.

To solve this, you will require deleting the registry key linked with the update, and after that reinstall the update.:

    • At the Windows update web page, note the KB article number linked with the incorrectly registered update.

    • Press ctrl + R>> open run >> type: regedit >> click OK.

    •nBrowse the following registry key:

    HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP2

    • Click once on the SP2.

    • In the right pane, put the KB article number that you noted earlier.

    • Right click the KB article number and choose remove from the resulting menu.

    • Exit from registry editor saving the changes.

    • Reboot your system and after that reinstall your Windows update.
