Thread: OS windows XP pro installed on SATA hard drive

I install windows xp on my notebook but for i can’t install, the problem is" windows can’t find any hard drives on this laptop" , and also i tried installing windows xp pro corporate edition which comes with support for SATA already but I find some error please some advice.

This basic problem of operating system when you install XP onto any sata drive is the need for a separate driver disk like a 3 1/2" floppy disk for the old desktops. And on laptops there is many option to slipstream those with XP when the "press F6 option" is seen when first early up the XP installer.

TO replacing a new version of Windows Vista or 7 with xp you need to clean the C drive totally of any traces of the new version to avoid problems which you seem to have done already. The generic drivers actually were not enough for the installation though detecting the drive itself.

You choose correct chipset company sata controller drivers and you need there in order to see XP finish the installation. NVidia drivers for an NVidia chipset, Intel for Intel, AMD for AMD, asus for asus etc

if you still have problems to installing XP you can restore the factory install Vista with an upgrade to 7. This latest version you can even perform a clean install with this version.
