Thread: Unable to reinstall/uninstall past installed OS XP

I’m clean setup of XP from my brothers PC and I would like to know if there is any suggestion to unable a XP user to uninstall any application that had already been before installed, and to enable him to install any other application. Is there any application or XP group policy option(s) that could help me on this?

unluckily with any new version of Windows the only way to minimum access to things and limit permissions to restrict making changes to programs installed also limits the ability of the user in a Guest restricted access account you set up to add new programs as well. On a system set up for this the administrator has to perform the task of adding new programs having complete access.

Now you can see the AppLocker feature with windows7 where the admins locks out access to existing programs without blocking new ones for a second or third Standard account. Even this however has the purpose of specifying which programs can be installed and run on a user desktop.

Another option is seen with program installers for the “For all users" options where the you can make a program available when logged into the administrator account. The "For all users" option on the other hand enables a program for each account. That provides admin control there over who use it
