Thread: Winsock rest matter

I am using a computer system installed with windows XP OS. I have problem with my corrupt winsock and each time I tried a netsh winsock reset it came back with an error that it cannot find the file specified. Please tell me there is a method to reinstall winsock from an XP cd? If you are having any solution from which I will able to solve this problem, and then help me to solve it.

Try the following command it will fix your problem. Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog

The winsock exist in as a DLL file in c:\windows\system32. The winsock must be there in the OS CD as a DLL file that is winsock.dll. You can try to copy form there and paste it in the system32 folder. The winsock works together with the TCP/IP protocol stack.
