Thread: Problem with XP backup disk

I have Netbook and, it came with windows XP installed I installed Linux overtop of XP, so now i want to reinstall XP and I’m just wondering, will the backup disk still work? Hence i completely removed XP.

I would have tried already but the disk is at my brothers, if I will work ill just get him to mail it down, so I want to find out first. Or should I just install the 7 beta?

While first going to remove XP to notice ubuntu go on what did you use to reformat the drive with? You will need to reformat the drive back to NTFS or remove the Linux partitions in order to either see XP reinstalled or try out the Windows 7 Release Candidate available at this time.

Which MSI u100 model are you running there? The problem you could run into trying out also one of the 7 RCs 32bit/64bit would be the lack of updated drivers wanted since that came with XP preinstalled.

With that being a previous model not considering any Vista updates presented that's going to be your finest option. That's mostly due to not looking any video, sound, and chipset drivers for the next version inline. now I managed to see 32bit XP drivers work on the 64bit RC for an add on device while still require 64bit for video and sound.
