You can use your OEM reinstallation disk to install windows XP and then you can use any of the Boot Managers and you can dual boot windows xp and windows Vista but you should confirm that you've acquire a free partition dishonest around.

One thing that will be a help in helping you here would be just some common system information like the size of the hard disks and if you plan to dual boot on one or have a second drive available. As much as the OEM sticker and any recovery disks when used they will reformat the C primary to see the factory fresh type preinstall back to the drive.

You will require the product key found on the sticker though in order to see the factory windows restored and activated. The key is joined to that one machine. As for Vista that would be advised to go on last being the latest version on a fresh D primary unless installed to another drive on the system.

The place of the OEM COA sticker on a desktop computer, depends on the producer, will be also on the left side panel or on the back of the tower. Laptops the sticker will be on the base .

If I will be able to dual boot on C: with that, without reformatting the drive. And I have to reformat, what should I put on the things I use as backup. I mean, just the most important files, or also all the windows maps like program files, windows, etc.through other words, if I reformat, will all be removed, or will the standard windows maps with all the fonts and data still be there?

If you have an external drive but rewritable will work also you use the Vista version of the Files and Settings transfer wizard to create a backup of things similar to your settings and user files for afterward use on Vista once the dual boot is total. As booted in the upcoming Vista installation you would then restore the files and settings from the current installation once all the programs were installed fresh all over again.

That will cover seeing the C primary reduced in size if possible following a reformat to keep away from crowding if you have a lot on C at there. one time shrunk in size you will be then you can create a second primary partition(NTFS) for Vista to go on. That will also need to be formatted followed by installing windows XP with the recovery disks.

First I go with Back things up then Divide my C drive into two partitions using the third party software. Then I Install windows xp with the bootable disk. Select xp from the boot menu. Afterwards Add the files that I backed up to the xp partition help me is this correct way.

You actually don't require a third party partitioning tool, the windows Xp setup disks will allow you to delete, create any size partition. as well, not to burst your bubble, but the perfect situation for dual booting is to have two separate physical drives as there are difficulty that may or may not arise having two windows on one hard disks.

You have to follow some way first think is back up any necessary data or programs you require to keep.Use the windows Xp Setup or Installation Disks to delete your existing partition and then make and format a fresh partition, for windows XP, wherever among 20 and 40 GB’s, but you must make the amount in MB, setup will teach you. Once format is done, start the installation on the recently created partition and complete the installation. One time the installation is complete and the machine has rebooted to the desktop, you can then start installing any programs or data from the backup CDand obtain the system setup the way you want.. You now have windows XP up and running, also, confirm you install SP3.

You've acquire that recovery partition there. Couldn't you just improve to the factor default from the backup image in that partition? Regularly, OEM PCs have the capability to factory reset the windows, if your computer initially had Windows XP.

In all the years I've installed and reinstalled windows Xp and prepared a disk for single or dual booting, whether it be home built, pre-built , windows pre-installed or not, I've never had to use a third party tool. The windows Xp setup or installation disks permit you to do that.
