Thread: Windows XP updates cannot on

I got a virus final night (conhost.exe). I was capable to arrive Malwarebytes going and got a clear scan. I set up Avast Antivirus and got a clear scan. I ran Spybot Search and Destroy and it determine Windows Update Override, etc. I picked the choice to clean it.


Restart machine and yet cannot restart my Windows automatic updates. My automatic Windows Updates has been invalided and I can't obtain it going once again.When I got to control panel/system/automatic updates it is is on. Still, when I click on the Windows Security Alert red icon in the bottom right corner system tray it shows Windows Updates are off and I cannot turn them back on there.Any input would actually be appreciated.

Definitely few trouble make by the virus, though you scanned and withdraw it but the effect stayed there. Anyways, what i can hint you at this point is try restoring your machine back to few former restore points. Hope the hurt finish at this point wont impression with former restore points. Restore back and try to turn on updates. View if it operate.

I guess that this matter occurs when the automatic Update Service is lacking from the services.msc list and also occures if the wuaueng.dll document is not filed. So try to register the file wuaueng.dll by next the under method: Click Start, select Run Type: regsvr32 wuaueng.dll Press OK.
