Can you complicate on you're blocked? what erroneousness content looks? also have you tested out the standalone installer rather of via Windows Update?

Hi, it just tells my cipher has been blocked and directs me to information about counterfeit products, but as I told, I get other Windows updates. I did obtain the machine seen over by a friend's son a as back. I'm inquiring whether he tinkered with it. (this is with the standalone installer, I get no fault content when auto updates happen).

OK, I would suggest to download and setup the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation instrument from Microsoft's download centre and view if your edition of Windows is genuine...It may be that your friend's son has finish something he shouldn't have finish. Failing that, alter the product cipher from the one so soon in the system to the sticker that's on the side of your computer.

Thanks for that response - I decided to alter the product cipher (seemed simple!). Managed to de-activate XP, but when I tested out to input the cipher, it arrives up as not right cipher. I rang a Microsoft helpline, who re-directed me to Dell, as it arrive pre-set up. Dell have been nice unable. I am going to try again with them when I have time, but if I do a machine restore will that put me back to my former state, or have I deactivated XP for better? Forgive my ignorance, but the machine looks to be operating OK atm. Might it have finish its own restore when the activation broke down?
