    Default Linux to Windows XP?

Greetings to you, by finding out i have determine nothing, but if so I ask to be concerned to it later on, i am utilizing Windows XP SP3 on a 200GB hard repel to NTFS, i would like to set up Linux later on this identical board - if potential, ubuntu, since i am an infrangible beginner in the field of Linux, i have already tried google but found nothing that I would answer the following questions adequately.

Can I Ubuntu, XP, without having to completely delete or having to reformat hard drive, if so - how do I add this to, give me as a normal Linux distro or do I need other programs, I do not have a floppy drive. So i am also ensure respect of the bootloader in the MBR, if these changes can produce serious and / could I him afterwards so that launches Windows and Linux booted on its own only when I want it if it works - how does ne one source should look like this bootloader?

You should beginning make a divide partition for Linux, betting on the system 20-30GB, it then setup Linux.

I think that Wubi should meet your requirements, it is my opinion of Ubuntu to test very well suited so i am never came out anyway and can be removed quickly in case it should not be your case. Since this is a virtual hard disk is a new partition is created the whole thing is obviously a little slower than it would for a conventional installation slowly, it is at least not yet, wubi adds to the normal Windows boot manager to an entry.

Formatting you do not inescapably intended you postulate but a latest partition since Ubuntu does not have a Windows partition file system can be setup, you could shrink so also one of the previous partitions and then setup Ubuntu into the unpartitioned space.

A total installation of Linux both side Windows is of course potential, the keywords you are appearing later is, partitioning, and the most significant thing you requirement earlier the set up is of course a backup of your data - you never know.

I conceive Ubuntu 9.04 is set up still when the partition size for an NTFS division to adjust itself, if you have a backup, I would test out the smooth times, the setup is now but maintained reasonably easy oh, can you configure the boot loader so that it ever mechanically as Windows loads, but if you like, you can create Ubuntu not even the XP boot loader again.

So I do not trust me more now recommend Ubuntu to have done this a few times and even then it was always little things eg, the network will always forget for a fixed IP address, enter only through the / etc / network / fix interfaces are not then worked, i myself, use only Debian on servers for a long time, now back on the desktop and I am very satisfied.

I would suggest you, sometimes Linux Mint test, i have setup the new edition once in a VirtualBox, and appears actually better and all works which I must also say that it's grounded on Ubuntu, it makes a identical mature impression and does not have as many bugs as Ubuntu at least I found none.
