DAYS, EVERY second phone, laptop and radio seems to have a wireless connection - we can barely move for the bristling of the airwaves. But a wireless connec¬tion isn't just handy when you're out and about. There are more options for going wireless at home, whether it's so you can enjoy catch-up TV you've downloaded on your actual telly (rather than the PC screen) or so you can work in a peaceful corner of the house.

We've suggested some pretty cool Wi-Fi-enabled products over the next few pages. They'll let you view photos and video clips and enjoy your music collection, all well out of reach of your Pc. Some wireless routers operate as dual-band devices and can take advantage of both the 2.4GHz and SGHz radio spectrums. In other words, as well as enjoying a stronger, faster, more secure way of getting online, you can now do so without fear of overlapping with a neighbouring network or having someone log on to yours 'accidentally'.

It's also easier than ever to set up a home network. The hope is that this will mean consumers end up with secured Wi-Fi, rather than skipping the encryption part of the installation process.
