Frequent wireless disconnections on Windows XP

“My windows machine is always disconnecting from the wireless network after some time. Then I have to restart my PC in order to get a new connection. I've read somewhere that windows looks up every few minutes for available access points and tries to connect to the strongest one but I don't know how to disable this behaviour. Do you have any idea?”

Windows XP has been installed with a utility called as Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) with this it runs as a service and it is intended to make its connection to an access point which is much easier, by continuously searching for this access points in range. This type of behavior will cause random disconnections on your wireless network.

To make this correction this will have to disable the WZC service and can use another wireless management program for it, same as that comes with your wireless network adapter. Now refer to the software which will help files or user manual for information on how to install and configure it the wireless network in it.

Note:

By deleting the wireless network the WZC service is started automatically every time when you load Windows in the computer.

For preventing the WZC service from starting you can open the services console and then double click on the Wireless Zero Configuration service to display the properties dialog on the screen.

When you have Selected Disabled for a Startup type, then press the Stop button and click OK from it.

As you have stopped and disabled the service on your computer then it will never again display its message to you on the screen.

Windows will now no longer search for the availability of the access points using the WZC service, so there was a frequent disconnection and it should be a thing of the past!
