Introduction
All the computer network functioning carries all sorts of confidential data, so the security is a must and is highly important part of any wireless network structure. There must be security which will ensures that the same level of data is been integrated and a confidentiality as a wired network is been maintained. Without been properly implemented security measures have to been undertaken so that any wireless network adapter coming within the range of another network adapter or can access point can join the network. There is a lot of non secure wireless which access the points in alarming a recent study resulted that there are over 90% of Access Points which have little or no security enabled to their network.
So why is there such a high lack of security? Well, we would say that it is because laziness and lack of network knowledge people are generally not aware of these things done to their computer. It is takes place normally in small companies and at home, wherein people tend to have the attitude of using the wireless setup they are being able to browse the internet or can access the files which are remotely from a wireless device then all is well… it is a BIG mistake done by the user who do it! To overlook wireless security is like leaving the front door to your house permanently open. Without any security that’s very much done is like what you’re doing; allowing anyone in your range to enter your network connection, and enabling him to read your e-mails, use your internet for free, and even get access to use your files from his computer.
With the recent introduction of push-button security for home user products in their network connection. We can now see that the user here has a little implementation in regarding wireless security among the wireless router. The main objective behind the push-button security is to provide a simplified and enhanced method of setting up and building a home network for the user on his network connection. With this so many user are home users and failing to notice the importance of security as a part of their wireless network building, push-button enables some form of security with a click on the mouse or by the touch of a button. While one may begin his question with the strength of such security, as another user will remind that something is better than nothing at all!
If you’re still reading this and using WEP, then look for a driver and/or firmware updates for your hardware and, if it is possible, then change to WPA security now! Also, look after that for the next time when you purchase your new hardware, and to it that the entire product supports WPA TKIP at the very least.
