Wireless Security Threats
 |

|
What are the threats that we face today with regards to wireless networks? There is an informative list that has been compiled by the NIST i.e. National Institute of Standards and Technology it is a part of their documentation made by them on Wireless Security. Here are the extract from that document given by them.
To date, the list below includes some of the more salient threats and vulnerabilities of wireless systems:
• There are all vulnerabilities that are been exist in a conventional wired network and apply to the wireless technologies too.
• Some of the wicked person can entities and gain the unauthorized access to an agency’s of computer or voice i.e. by the way of IP telephone network as well as through the wireless connections to the computer, can also be passed by any of the firewall protections available on the computer.
• There is also sensitive information which is not encrypted and this information is been transmitted between the two wireless devices may intercept and disclose with each other.
• The attack of the DoS (Denial of service) may be directly at the wireless devices.
• The wicked user can entitle for the stealing of the identity of valid users and pretend them for the use of internal or external corporate networks.
• The data which is been responsive may be corrupted during the use of improper management.
• The wicked user can entitle for the availability of the valid user and his privacy as well as he is been able to track the valid user’s physical movements.
• The wicked user can do the entities and may organize the unauthorized equipment to secretly gain access to sensitive information.
• The devices which are handled by hand and can be easily stolen and can reveal the responsive information.
• The data which is available on the users PC can be extracted without any detection from the unacceptly configured devices of the network.
• The viruses or the other nasty code used by the other user can corrupt the data on a wireless device and also subsequently can also introduce him to a wired network connection available.
• The wicked user may, avail the wireless connections, as well as connect him to other agencies for the purposes of launching attacks and concealing their activity of the computer.
• The interlopers means the user who does not have the legal permission and making use of others wireless network connection, he may be able to gain the connectivity to the network management controls and can thereby disable the network or interrupt the users operation.
• The wicked user may also use a third party, un-trusted wireless network services to gain network access to any others connection.
• There might be internal attacks in the connection this may be done by the way of ad hoc transmission of the data.
As you might using the wired networks and the agency officials will make you aware of the liability issues for the loss of important information or might be for any attacks launch from a compromised network.
As you can see, to it that there are many vulnerabilities on all the levels of networking, some of this can normally come to mind, so that we must be prepared for all the worst and not for taking the things for granted. These don’t carry highly sensitive information on your portable device and taken what is absolutely necessary. Leave all other data on the home network, or on the removable storage media. Also, if you are available, then enable the auto lock feature with a password and then add a PIN number to the device; so that whenever you switch it on, you will first have to enter the PIN password so that it can start up.
