Thread: Wireless card failing to connect

Recently purchased a new Linksys Wireless N adapter....installing was also fine......but was not able to browse with the internet. I have informed the Linksys tech support about it and no help was provided by them.

I’m having a home network....a XPS 410 desktop, Dell 1520 and Dell 1720....Linksys Router....whole thing has been updated every time. The wireless is also working fine on both the laptops. I have got an older Toshiba which is running windows XP....reformatted it...runs great ceptin' for that freakin wireless N card which will not be connected to it.....any help ??

My linksys router which is having the settings wherein I can easily select the "G only", "B only", "N only", "B/G Mixed", or "Mixed". I also have to set mine to the "Mixed" as I've received B, G, and N devices. Just assuming it.....

Try to Disable the encryption as well as the MAC Address filtering on the router and then try to connect it back again. If successful then you can possibly re-enable the encryption and reconnect it. If not successful then follow the below shown...

Start, Run, CMD, OK for opening of a command prompt:

Type the following command in the command prompt:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit the Enter key.
Paste the consequences in a message here.

If essential then make use of a text file and take out the media to copy the results to a computer with the internet access.

My router is also set in the Mixed.........I have to first copy and then paste the info later on...got out of state for company right now. Right now all the laptop are stating that: No association to right of entry point.....the card which has one solid light as well as the one flashing light...

Try to do with a wired connection. If that too is not working then, make an attempt to stack the reset below.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2/SP3.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window which will open, type the below shown commands:

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog

Finally Reboot the machine.

Did you mean to run the ipconfig when it's been wired??

Are you making use of XP's WZC or a Linksys utility for managing the wireless in your computer? When you scan or able to see the availability of networks which you come across your network, right? Just then what takes place when you tell it to get connected?

I mean run that stack for resetting the command. The wired test was just to see that does it work or not.

I've strived equally of them...but none of them worked.......And it's get connected just fine when wired....so I be supposed to run the stack reset command on the laptop in question correct??

ok.....I did that too....but now when I make use of the Linksys utility it just states that No Association with out the access point.....it also shows that the adapter is active....and when I put my cursor on the Linksys tray icon it states that "Disconnect" so obviously the adapter is working fine.......something else is been screwed up.

When it was hard wired it WAS which was visible on the network......but while trying to connect it wirelessly it says that No access with having any access point.

Presumptuous that the encryption and MAC Address filtering are been disabled on the router and the driver or adapter is also defective. Also make sure that you are having the latest driver installed in the router/modem from Linksys's web site. If you are having the latest drivers already installed then make use of Device Manager for uninstalling the adapter; reboot and let Windows locate the adapter and reinstall it automatically. Your XP is at service pack 2 or 3 level, right?

Ok...if I disable the encryption....then it will have to stay that way only?? The adapter which was the brand new and it also seems to be working right with it.... I’m also having WPA as a substitute for WEP....can this is the problem?? I do have the latest driver, and I have SP2...Where do I disable the encryption?? I’m also not able to locate anywhere to disable the encryption.

WPA-PSK must also be working fine (better than WEP) with XP SP2. Encryption may be in your routers in the wireless section, and also may be labeled "security" as an alternative of "encryption."
