    Default Router/Static IP problem?

Using Windows Vista and a Belkin Wireless G router and adapter. This is the computer the adapter is on, the other one is fine. I right click on my network connection and choose properties, then IPv4 properties, and "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" is checked. I need to set up a static IP, so I check "Use the Following IP address", then I put in all the proper info. Then I push "OK", then "OK" again, and it's supposedly done. Then I go back into IPv4 properties and "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" is checked again and it's totally disregarded my previous choice. No matter how many times I tell it to use a static IP, it immediately goes back to "Obtain an IP Address Automatically". What am I doing wrong?

You are not setting the IP in the correct area. You do not set it in IPV4 you need to set it on the wireless adapter itself.Goto network connectionsRight Click on the wireless adapter and select propertiesScroll down until you see the TCP/IP selectionHighlight it and click on the properties button. This is were you want to place your static information. Then click on OK......
