WEP vs. WPA Wireless Security

To WEP
The WEP (wired equivalent privacy), originally, on the wired network security, found that it is not intended to give the same or similar. WEP is the key secret to work using the code or data encryption. The WEP, 802.11b is the standard definition; one will provide security by encrypting data that is locked to the signal sent from one endpoint. Before a data transmission network card, RSA Security provides encrypted using the RC4 encryption stream. The receiving station and access point run the decrypted frame is received. 802.11 WEP encrypts the data between the stations only. Is the code for the access point and clients must know the function. WEP settings of the three: the (no security), off 64-bit (weak security) and 128-bit (high security).

To crack the WEP, it is not difficult to reduce the performance slightly and use it. In this way the concept of using a WEP pass phrase to be entered manually in a complex string keys are introduced. 16 Please enter the pass phrase for the key is converted to decimal. That's the static nature of the shared secret key. 802.11 do not provide any support for the key exchange between the stations. As a result, users and system administrators are generally long term and use the same key. This time monitors, network intrusion by hackers and WEP is enabled. Most wireless networks use a single WEP. WEP key is shared between all nodes on the network.

WPA
WPA (WI - FI Internet Access Protection), the new security standards have been adopted by the WiFi ARAIANSUKONSOSHIAMU. WiFi from different manufacturers will guarantee interoperability between compliant wireless devices. The WPA, WEP can provide is the encryption standard to improve much beyond the level of security. The bridge WEP and 802.11i (WPA2) and the gap between the networks. Kipp tea WPA (TKIP), WEP the remedies are used have been designed to be upgraded to cope with the existing security problems. WPA five hundred trillion can be more than necessary to achieve the global encryption key of the key re-key combinations can be. TKIP is changed after every frame using the encryption key. Can be synchronized between the access point and wireless client to automatically occur to change the key frame for each frame. Encryption algorithm, one WEP, TKIP is stronger than that used. WPA is compatible with the old access point and network card.

The WPA2
The WPA WPA2 is the latest implementation, and network access control provides a powerful data protection. Access to only authorized users with a higher level of assurance it provides the user with a WiFi wireless network. WPA2 is, IEEE 802.11i standards-based and provides government grade security. 802.11i wireless LAN 802.11a and 802.11b describes the encryption of data communications between systems. The health of the key time protocol (TKIP) and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), which defines new encryption key protocols.

WPA2 have two versions: one WPA2 Personal and WPA2 Enterprise. WPA2 personal, unauthorized network access protection using the password setup. WPA2 companies will validate the user via a network server.
