Thread: Wireless suddenly can't find connections

I don't identify a whole lot about networking or wireless, and I suppose I have what is a very basic setup - modem to router to laptop (Vista). I've never actually had problems except for the infrequent blip here and there.

But the other day, I was using the laptop, and all of an unexpected the internet stopped functioning. It wouldn't show any connections at all. Occasionally when I refreshed a list, a network would show up (not mine), but I could never attach to it. I refresh again, and it can't find any networks. And yes, the wireless was switched on.

Does someone have any ideas? What could be invalid? And why does it stop functioning so unexpectedly? Nothing has been changed it just stops.

Wireless router's signal are vulnerable to radio interfering from devices such as microwaves, wireless phones, cell phones as well as something else that sends out radio wave signals. Magnets too close to the router can also influence it, and walls with possibly big fat mosquitoes.

The detail that you altered position which considerably affected the signal shows that there is probably some obstruction. For the moment turn off all those devices, change arrangement. And confirm too that the configuration on your utility page is the same on your laptop.
